Biography

Chinese immigrants who arrived in the United States in the middle of the 1940s gave birth to Vera Ellen Wang on June 27, 1949, in New York City. Florence Wu (Wu Chifang), her mother, was a translator for the UN; Cheng Ching Wang (Wang Chengqing), a graduate of MIT and Yanjing University, was the owner of a pharmaceutical company.
