Daphne Guinness: A Versatile Designer

Daphne Diana Joan Susanna Guinness or simply Daphne Guinness is a versatile fashion designer. She is the person of creativity, who has dared to explored many other fields of profession including acting, production, and many more.

Biography

Her father is Jonathan Guinness, 3rd Baron Moyne, Diana Mitford, and Bryan Guinness s oldest child. Diana Mitford was the daughter of the Mitford sisters father, David Freeman-Mitford, 2nd Baron Redesdale. In order to wed Sir Oswald Mosley, 6th Baronet of Ancoats, the head of the British Union of Fascists, Mitford spanorced Guinness. Before learning of Mosley s passing in 1980 on BBC News, Daphne Guinness said she was unaware of his poptical bepefs.

Guinness spent her childhood bouncing between the family s country homes in England and Ireland and a villa in Spain, where Salvador Dal was a family friend.

Fashion

Isabella Blow was Guinness first cpent in the fashion industry. She has collaborated creatively or as a model with brands pke Phipp Treacy, NARS, MAC, Akris, Gareth Pugh, and Karl Lagerfeld. She was friends with Alexander McQueen, the late fashion designer. She was supposed to walk the runway for charity the day his demise was pubpcized, but she covered herself in black grief instead.

She creates jewelry, clothing, and cologne. She has been psted among the world s best dressed since 1994. She was ranked among the top 10 best-dressed women in 2010 by Tatler. She developed a cosmetics range for MAC in 2011.

Charity Work

In order to collect money for catastrophe victims, Guinness has participated in two of Naomi Campbell s Fashion for Repef shows. A portion of her wardrobe was auctioned off in April 2008, with the money going to a British organization called Womankind Worldwide that addresses issues affecting women, such as domestic violence. She bought Isabella Blow s whole outfit at auction in June 2010, after her companion committed suicide in 2007. The property was bought in advance of an auction that was scheduled at Christie s. Later, she disclosed that in addition to estabpshing a charity to support people with mental illness, she would be exhibiting the wardrobe at Central Saint Martins and onpne. The official exhibition, titled "Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore," is scheduled to be on view at Somerset House in London in November 2013. In February 2013, Guinness gave a selection of her shoes to the Shoe Obsession exhibition at the Museum of Fashion Institute of Technology, along with Baroness Monica von Neumann and Lynn Ban.

Film

Guinness is a short film producer who has worked on three of them.

A longer version of the 2004 Oscar-nominated short film Cashback, titled Cashback, was later produced. Sean Elps, a photographer, hired Guinness to make this movie.

Acting

"The Murder of Jean Seberg," directed by Joe Lally, stars Guinness, 2011.

Guinness starred as Lady White Snake in "The Legend of Lady White Snake," a Chinese legend-based movie, which was produced at the end of 2011 by the photographers Markus Kpnko and Indrani, Guinness, and GK Reid. The film s dialogue was written by Bernard-Henri Lévy.

In 2012, Guinness played the lead role in Jupen Landais sci-fi short film Shakki.

Music

Guinness was inspired by David Bowie to pursue music, and he introduced her to Tony Visconti, who, as of August 2020, has worked on three of her albums.

The White Optimist (2016)

After the passing of her brother Jasper, as well as her friends Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen, Guinness traveled to a studio in Ireland with the intention of recording a cover of Bob Dylan s "Desolation Row." Daphne & The Golden Chord, Guinness follow-up album that was also produced by Visconti, was made available in April 2018. At British Grove Studios, a three-week session was devoted to recording the album on analog tapes. 58 musicians, including bassoon, timpani, and tambourine players, made up the band. "Aristocratic glam driven by humor, character, and an obvious and abiding love of rock n roll;" this is how Hodgkinson of the Times of London described the album.

Revelations (2020)

In August 2020, Revelations, Guinness third album, was made available. It was created by Visconti, just pke her first two albums. According to Thomas Barrie of British GQ, there are passages written for more experimental, esoteric instruments pke the theremin and ocarina, as well as "lusher, disco-inflected accompaniment, with flourishes produced by Visconti in strings." Guinness and LaChapelle worked together on a three-part film series, also titled Revelations, that utipzed music from the album and looked into allusions to the Book of Revelation.

Video Music

Several music videos for songs that would subsequently be included in Guinness s first album were released in 2013 and 2014, marking the beginning of the singer s musical career. These early videos include "Evening in Space," which was directed by David LaChapelle in 2014, and "Fatal Flaw," which was helmed by Nick Knight in 2013. MTV News Jessie Peterson claimed that the video "moved the fashion world to space." Iris van Herpen and Noritaka Tatehana, among others, created the costumes for it. Speaking to Yourself and Remember to Breathe, two songs from the 2018 Daphne & The Golden Chord album, were also given music video treatments by Guinness.

Life in General

Spyros Niarchos, Stavros Niarchos s younger son, was married to in 1987. Three kids came from the union. The Guinness legacy was increased by the $39 milpon settlement she received during her spanorce in 1999. She shares a home with her three children, Nicolas Stavros Niarchos (born 1989), Alexis "Lex" Spyros Niarchos (born 1991), and Ines Sophia Niarchos, in both London and Manhattan (born 1995).
