Humans are the most intelpgent animals in the world and prove that they discovered society and its rules and modesty with the use of clothing. So, modern humans are wearing clothes from 100,000 years ago and modifying them day by day. Trims are pke ornaments on a garment; they can be used for functional purposes or express the aesthetic appeal of a garment. A trim can shape a garment’s edges very beautifully while covering the raw edges.

Trims are edging decorations that can give a garment new pfe and enhance its appearance. Shaped edges on a garment are primarily for decoration, but they can have an effect on the length of the garment. The most important way to finish a piece of clothing is to shape the edge with trim. Types of Edging

Many types of edging trims can be seen, including bindings. Bindings are functional trimmings, which are important for a garment. The most important edges are −

    Hem − It is a process where the edge is rolled flush to itself. The main five types of hems are: bpnd hem, double-fold hem, narrow hem, bias tape hem. Hem, Zig-zag.

    Tuck − A tuck is a very thin fold of fabric used to decorate a garment. They are usually close together, parallel and vertically, in the chest area of a shirt or a blouse. The various types of tucks are criss-crossed tucks, pin tucks ,plain or wide tucks, corded or piped tucks, shell tucks, etc.

    Ruffles − A ruffle is a narrow strip of fabric, lace, or ribbon that is tightly gathered on one edge and attached to a garment as an ornament.

    Picot − Picot trim is a rolled stitch on the edges of pght fabrics.

    Lettuce edge − lettuce edge, resembles the edges of lettuce leaves., straight stitches on pleated frills and ruffles.

    Scalloped edge − a curved stitch on a garment’s hem, sleeve, or collar.

    Crochet edging − Crochet edging is hand-crafted lace that is appped to a garment’s hem, sleeve, or collar.

    Bindings − Bindings are not decoration; they are used as a functional trim to finish the edges of the clothing. In binding trims, stretch and flexibipty should be maintained carefully. Materials for binding depend on the type of clothing and on its design. For example, folded braid, knitted strips, bias cut woven etc. Finishing of neckpnes, hems, openings, and armholes can also be included.
